Permeated

Filed under: Hither and Yon — Administrator @ 2:16 am

In an absent moment, idly
my tongue runs over your name
where it lingers in my fingers, my pout

You’re in the shadow of silence and the clock’s
tic and the rustling sound my clothes make
when I shift, restless, on the couch
You’re in my half-asleep and
the opening and closing
of daydream’s ethereal
curtains; you’re in the
neutral tone when I
pick up the phone
out of habit

And deep down,
you’re there in
the slight
lisp
between
each breath

(I draw you
out of memory, I
release you back to
memory, I breathe
you, I steep
in you)

You’ve
permeated me
the way the sky lays
down, across the horizon’s embrace, his
burden of heaven’s adoring gifts:

time, space and
a lavishment
of light

  1. I like. You used lisp, excellent! I used lisp once too, many moons ago, here: http://brokenverse.blogspot.com/2005/06/papers-of-dead-4241993.html
